Co-Lab Life Sciences Finalists at Visayas Tech Planter 2025
Co-Lab Life Sciences proudly celebrates two of its student-led research teams: ThermoZyme and EKS-CACAO, as official finalists for Visayas Tech Planter 2025!
Tech Planter is a deep tech startup acceleration program by the Leave a Nest group, designed to identify and support science- and technology-based innovations from researchers, students, and entrepreneurs across Asia.
ThermoZyme, advised by Dr. Joval Martinez, RMicro (President & CEO, Co-Lab Life Sciences), is pioneering the use of heat-tolerant microorganisms to boost sugarcane yield and sugar content while reducing chemical fertilizer inputs.
EKS-CACAO, guided by Kyle Patrick Taruc, MSc (Vice President & CMO, Co-Lab Life Sciences), is developing natural microbial treatments to manage cacao black pod rot, offering sustainable alternatives to synthetic fungicides.
These projects reflect our mission of making science accessible by supporting young innovators with the tools and mentorship they need to solve real-world problems.
